by march of `82 Metallica had their first proper line up and had started playing gigs
it is not known if these tracks are an early demo or merely a taped rehersal/practise session
of the three original tracks, both the mechanix & jump in the fire have alternative lyrics, the mechanix
was re-titled "the four horsemen" & given new lyrics during the recording of "KILL `EM ALL" in mid `83
all of the cover versions are very straightforward & similar to the original versions

"hit the lights", (4:21)
-
"jump in the fire", (3:56)
-
"the mechanix", (4:50)
-
"motorbreath", (3:26)
NOTES;
first demo recorded on half decent equipment, this demp is not actually called the power metal demo,
that name comes from an early "business" card that the band
used, the name has stuck this demo was originally untitled
jump in the fire & the mechanix still have different lyrics
the version of "hit the lights" on this tape is often listed as being the same take that appears on
the "metal massacre" cd version (even by me originally), this is wrong

NOTES;

-
"welcome home (sanitarium)", take 2, (9:34)
-
"battery", (5:24)
-
"master of puppets", (8:42)
NOTES;
"disposable heroes" has different lyrics. take 2 of "welcome home (sanitarium)" has an extra four minutes
of music towards the end of the track, this music was replaced in the final version. the extra four minutes
was expanded and reworked until it became the track ""orion", many bootlegs list this track as "orion" when
it is actually half "welcome.." and half "orion"
due to this error on many bootlegs i am only listing track detail for the cd`s that i have
the track "disposable heroes" was played live six months before the release of the album
